Meeting my beautiful wife changed my life in so many wonderful ways, but this blog is not about that (this blog is actually about that car in the background you see).
My goal is to write about being on the ground floor of the automotive business in one of the highest volume dealerships in the country. My experience here (the ups and downs, the real life dramas) can help educate YOU about what to expect when shopping for a car (or anything for that matter). Yes, I am a college educated young man working in retail, and there are many reasons for this. Perhaps I am just blessed to be here.
We ALL have a unique perspective, and through this blog I hope to bridge some gaps between people's misconceptions about car buying and the actual truth. I promise this won't be a giant advertisement for Courtesy Ford!
Each day I arm myself with product knowledge, sales techniques like how to overcome objections to move people towards the sale (despite "asking for the business" not especially being my favorite part). I am a trained customer service professional with three years as a concierge and ten years as a ski instructor, SO ALL THIS IS NEW TO ME! Which makes it fun, crazy, a little weird at times, and at the best times wholeheartedly rewarding.
A few things I have learned in my short year in the car business:
- Don't second guess yourself: attitude is everything.
- People are saying no to the offer, not to YOU as a person.
- You must be prepared to act decisively like a surgeon at the precise moment. Preparation is Key!
- Say everything with a smile...even if it's bad news!
Signing off,
Jason
